Why Tumbling Class Matters

ree

If you're looking for the most impactful investment in your athlete’s progression this year, enrolling in a tumbling class is it. Tumbling skills take time and consistent reps to master, not just to do a skill, but to execute it with confidence and excellence. That kind of mastery doesn’t happen by chance. It happens through year-round work, and that’s why we highly recommend that every athlete stays enrolled in a tumbling class throughout the season.

Why does Tumbling Class Matter?

As we move into the routine-building phase of the season, our team practices shift focus to choreography, formations, stunt sequences, jump/tumbling technique and synchronization. That means that coaches will no longer have time available to build individual tumbling skills during practice.

It’s important to understand that there’s a big difference between having a skill and being able to hit that skill in the middle of a demanding two minute and thirty second routine, when the athlete is already physically and mentally exhausted and simultaneously responsible for executing jumps, dance, stunts, choreography and transitions with near perfection.

Our goal isn’t just to have athletes who can do a skill, but athletes who can do it well consistently and under pressure. That's why ONLY athletes who can consistently execute within these demands can be incorporated into these sections of the choreographed routine.

What are the Judges Are Looking For?

With the United Scoring System, execution and consistency are even more important than difficulty. We are only able to include tumbling skills in the routine if they are both consistent and excellently executed because even one athlete with a form break, timing issue, or fall can significantly hurt the team’s score.

Although our goal is always for every athlete to be a contributor to their team’s success, our job is to build a routine that reflects what every athlete can confidently hit under physical exertion and pressure.

Progress = Preparation + Opportunity for the Future

Athletes don’t advance levels each season just because they’ve gotten close to a new skill. They move up when they’ve fully mastered their current level and shown they can handle every part of the routine with excellence. Tumbling class is where skills are developed, technique is refined and confidence is built. Team practices alone aren’t enough to reach each athlete's long term goals. The athletes who make the most progress are the ones doing the work outside of team time consistently, and it shows when it counts. This is the foundation for growth, consistency, and competitive confidence, and we’re excited to help your athlete reach their full potential.
